Why the British should buy property in Morocco
STOP PRESS - 2 June 2007
Jean Liggett of Elan Properties was interviewed by Morocco's largest national television channel 2M at the Morocco Property Show & Lifestyle, Selfridge Hotel, in London on 2nd June 2007 along with the Moroccan Minister of Housing & Urban Planning, Mr. Toufiq Hijra.
The interviewer asked Jean Liggett why should the British buy property in Morocco.
Jean said the key reasons for buying real estate in Morocco are:
• High capital growth, over 20% per annum with Morocco properties for sale being less than half that of neighbouring Spain.
• Moroccans are warm, hospitable people.
• Fantastic physical beauty of the country: desert, mountains, historic sites, exotic cities including Marrakesh, and long coast lines with beautiful beaches
• Stable constitutional monarchy, which is similar to that of the United Kingdom.
• Morocco is a former colony of France, and its laws and procedures for conducting business are based on the Napoleonic code.
• King's commitment to raising the prosperity of his people and the country's profile via 'Vision 2010' programme.
• Morocco is the closest tropical location, and is only 3 hours from the UK.
• Warm climate with 330 days sunshine p.a.
She was also asked what the reservations of the British were investing in Morocco. The main one she has encountered is that people think that Morocco is very far. But when she shows people how close it is to Spain, this barrier is overcome.
